Glade Valley Community Services

  • Food Bank: Donation bins are in the narthex.
  • Christmas "Mitten" Tree: During the holidays, a Christmas tree is adorned with information of children in need, allowing PIC members to assist local families by purchasing Christmas gifts.

Frederick Rescue Mission: Personal hygiene items can be donated to families in need by depositing travel sized items in the bin located in the Narthex. Items needed include: soap, deodorant, shampoo, lotion.

Summer Outreach of Walkersville Area (SOWAC): Peace in Christ teams up with other area churches to serve hot lunches to children in our immediate area at the Discovery HOA (approximately 3 blocks from PIC). Healthy lunches are served outdoors at the pavilion weather permitting or in the HOA building on bad weather days.

Frederick Community Action Agency’s summer food service program prepares the food provided through the USDA and it is served by volunteers in participating SOWAC Churches. When schools are out and the free school lunch program is not available over 70% of children in the local community are at risk for hunger in the summer months. in 2017 – over 3,000 lunches were served locally.

Alcoholics Anonymous: AA is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Peace in Christ hosts AA meetings in the Fellowship Hall on Mondays from 6-9 PM.
